Love Left Behind…to be continued?

Warning: a tiny bit spoilerish if you haven’t read Love Left Behind yet

I want to thank everyone for their amazing response to Love Left Behind! I’ve been getting inquiries about whether there will be a second book continuing Emma and Jackson’s story. I hadn’t initially planned on it, although I do have an idea of where their story would go. At the same time, Emma and Jackson have been through plenty of angst and I just want them to be happy! And a second book will undoubtedly mean more conflict, i.e. more angst!

Also, I don’t want to write a second book just for the sake of writing a second book and stretch out their story unnecessarily – I think readers deserve more than that. So I won’t continue their story unless I truly think that the second book will be a meaningful addition. That being said, Emma and Jackson pop into my head frequently as my mind weaves scenes of their possible future (much to the chagrin of the characters in the book I’m currently writing. they get pretty peeved when they get pushed aside for a daydream about Emma and Jackson). So who knows! I’ll be sure to update you if anything changes.

Excellent book have read it twice now in 3 days! Great characters and plot development! Have not been able to stop thinking about this story, it really moved me…thank you. Looking forward to hopefully more Jackson and Emma…fingers crossed!

    • SHKolee says:

So happy you enjoyed the book, Leigh Anne! Twice in three days – now that’s impressive! :) I’ll be sure to update you if/when the status of a sequel changes. Thanks!

    • Shelley says:

This is impressive..Iknow b/c I read it in 2 days..but I am a stay at home mom whose kids are gone so I have all kinds of time..I have read all the new contem. romances..Fifty, Bared to You etc…this is right up there..congrats..angst is what drives plots and subplots so thats not an issue..it would be a damn shame to let these characters fade into the sunset..we have seen all Jaksons sexual exploits-maybe see what happens when Emma gets her Hollywood makeover and men start flocking to her..PLEASE PLEASE don’t let these character fade they deserve as much as Christian and Anna and Gideon and Eva…they may deserve they’re happiness but they deserve to live on more that that..I’ll be watching daily :)

      • SHKolee says:

Thanks Shelley! I’m so glad you enjoyed the book and connected with the characters. I’ll be sure to update everyone if I decide to write another book continuing their story. I love and appreciate your enthusiasm for them!

  2. Mary Anne Castro says:

I love it…i was gripping on my ipad tightly when i was reading it…so angry with Claire, with Emma…but in the end i felt her pain and her fears…i hope u have a second book for this one…thank you…

    • SHKolee says:

I’m so glad you enjoyed the book – I know I took you on a bit of a roller coaster ride! Thanks so much for reading it!

  3. Heidi Hines says:

I think Love Left Behind ended just as it should have without needing a second book. Great Story!

  4. Erica Millican says:

This was a beautiful book! I loved it! but i don’t think their should be a second one. It will, like you said, create more angst. :)

    • SHKolee says:

I’m so glad you enjoyed the book! And I’m not sure I can take more angst between Jackson and Emma either! (I do admit that I’m an angst-monger though!)

  5. Christina says:

I enjoyed Love Left Behind, but please don’t write a second book because I agree with what you said about Jackson and Emma having gone through enough angst. They deserve their HEA. I am actually hoping for Drew’s story or even Jackson’s brother from Miami. Maybe through them, we can get more glimpses of Jackson and Emma’s HEA.

    • SHKolee says:

So happy you enjoyed the book! And I really do lean towards letting Jackson and Emma walk off into the sunset, but I’ve definitely entertained the thought of letting readers see a glimpse of their life through continuing another character’s story. Thanks for reading!

  6. Tracy says:

I agree with the others that Jackson and Emma need to just be happy now, but a book about Ryan could be great. We could catch a glimpse of J and E in their future without them having to suffer anymore. Also I’d love to see Claire SUFFER for all she so selfishly did. I haven’t hated a charavter this much in a long time. Thanks for sharing such a good story.

    • SHKolee says:

Thanks for reading the book, Tracy! So glad you enjoyed it. I’m definitely entertaining the possibility of writing a book about a peripheral character, which would include seeing what Jackson and Emma are up to.

  7. Kelly says:

I LOVED your book!!! I really hope you decided to write a second book for Jackson and Emma. Their story was so intense and I would like to read more of their story.

    • SHKolee says:

Thanks Kelly! Currently I’m up in the air about a second book as I’m currently working on some other projects. I’ll be sure to update everyone if I decide to go forward with a second book. Thanks again!

  8. Brandi says:

I loved this book! I found myself reading all night long (trying not to wake my sleeping husband) because I couldn’t stand not knowing what was going to happen next! Please let there be a second book!!!

    • SHKolee says:

I’m so glad you enjoyed reading the book, Brandi! And my apologies to your husband if it kept him up; :) My husband would often feel my wrath when he tried to talk to me when I was in the middle of writing an intense scene. Poor man! :P

  9. Kristie says:

Loved this book. I vote for a #2. More Jackson and Emma

  10. Kathy says:

OMG words cannot describe this book and what a talented author you are. This book held you from beginning to end. I hated getting towards the end of the book b/c I didn’t want Emma & Jackson to end. Like you said how much more could Emma & Jackson go thru? I think Drew needs his own story.

    • SHKolee says:

Thanks so much for the kind words, Kathy. I’m so happy you enjoyed the book and connected with the characters! Poor Drew – he needs some lovin’ too!

  11. Mandy says:

Aaahhh! You have to continue the story! This book is so good! I have chewed my nails until they hurt over the angst in Love Left Behind. Amazing! You are now one of my top favorite authors! You can’t leave me guessing the ending of their story. Please write another book!

    • SHKolee says:

Thanks Mandy! I hope I didn’t ruin any manicures! I truly appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm for the book and the desire for a sequel!

  12. Ana says:

I absolutely loved this book! And a sequel doesn’t mean tearing them apart, I’m sure they can face challenges and conflicts together and you are such a talented writer, I’m sure the second book will be as great if you decide to write it, I hope you do! I loved the characters, even when I was screaming at Emma and Claire, well I hated Claire.. I agree that there should be more to their story, their wedding, them having children, more conflict..LOL.. Wishful thinking! Thank you for this story, and I hope to read more from you!

    • SHKolee says:

I’m so happy you loved the book, Ana. And you’re right, a second book doesn’t necessarily mean Emma and Jackson separating. It’s definitely under consideration. Thanks for your kinds words!

  13. Trina Hirst says:

I just finished reading this book this morning. I am so very much in love with Jackson and Emma as a couple. They are right up there with Christian and Ana. I could not put this book down. I cannot lie I would love another story or 2 or 3 (lol). I have off to start the book over. Cant wait to read more.

    • SHKolee says:

Thanks for your kind words, Trina! I’m so happy you enjoyed the book and connected with the characters. I’ve gotta say I’m a little in love with them too (especially Jackson!). Thanks again!

  14. Karen says:

Loved the book! I would loved to see a happy ending for them, what about a short story/novella to fill us in on there wedding!!

  15. rosie says:

Great book! I really enjoyed it. That being said I dont think my heart could take anymore Jackson and Emma angst. I think it would be amazing to hear more about them whether it be in a short story or a book about other characers from the story. My heart was breaking for them as I was reading. It was very hard to put it down. I found myself hiding in my closet from my children so I could read! Is that wrong? I am reading Dark Shadows now. Looking forward to future projects!

    • SHKolee says:

That cracked me up! As for it being wrong, I think any mother would excuse any way you could get a few moments of privacy, even if it’s huddled in a closet. ;) I’m so happy you enjoyed the book, and I totally know what you mean about not being able to take any more angst! Thanks so much for reading!

  16. Marvilyn says:

I loved the book!!! I agree with the others that it is as good as Fifty Shades of Grey and Bared to You. I hated getting to the end because I loved the characters and wanted to continue reading their story. Please continue Jackson and Emma’s story with a second book.

    • SHKolee says:

Thanks so much for your kind words, Marvilyn! I’m so happy you enjoyed the book. Even though Emma and Jackson went through tons of angst and I was exhausted by the time I was done writing, I was sad to see them go!

  17. Melissa Bedford says:

I loved this book, I have read it twice now! I really loved Jackson and Emma, but I agree they have have been through too much for a second book. However, that being said, I would love for you to write a story on Drew and then slip in info about Jackson and Emma. ;)
Drew was a great secondary character and I keep pondering if he found his “Emma”. I look forward to reading more books from you in the future!
    Melissa

    • SHKolee says:

I’m so glad you loved Jackson and Emma, Melissa! And I agree – poor Drew needs to find his “Emma” too. Thanks so much for reading!

  18. I need more Jackson and Emma! Please write a sequel!!!!

  19. Heather says:

Obviously, I have no control over what you write, but I think that I’d love to read Nathan and Mia’s story with some of Jackson and Emma thrown in. After all, Jackson is now on the west coast as are they, so there could be something there.

I think that or Trisha (I hope I’m remembering her name right, it was REALLY late last night) and Sean’s story.

    • SHKolee says:

Great ideas, Heather. I’ve given some thought to writing about one of the periphery characters, and that way we can get a glimpse of Emma and Jacskon. Thanks so much for reading the book!

  20. Trina Hirst says:

I love Emma and Jackson as much as I love Christian and Ana. I don’t know Mia and Nathan or the four might be good. I am not totally sold on the Trisha and Sean. If you remember right Sean was boring and that is why she left him in the first place, he didn’t like adventure. I might guess that is what Trisha likes about him.

  21. Trina Hirst says:

Maybe a nice story with Drew as the leading man… I felt some potential there myself and for a split second thought if Emma and Jackson could not get it together there might be a great story there.

    • SHKolee says:

Thanks for your kind words! I’m so happy you enjoyed the book. As for poor Sean, he wasn’t right for Emma, but that doesn’t mean he’s not someone else’s dream guy. Emma thought he was boring, but that had more to do with her than him. And we all bring out different things in people. Maybe Sean was boring with Emma, but not with the right person.

Anyways, enough of my ramblings. Thanks again for your interest and enthusiasm!

  22. yarima says:

OMG! I loved this book! Jackson is right up there with Gideon & Christian. I truly loved this story and can only dream for a second book. Please keep us posted.

  23. Trina Hirst says:

    Ahh i love Gideon too!

  24. Paula ishee says:

Omg I know you have heard it a hundred times but another book please I am absolutely in love with this book I agree it’s right there with Christian and Gideon there needs to be another book about Jackson and ema loved it amazing story :) )

    • SHKolee says:

Thanks so much, Paula! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the book! And I never tire of people telling me that they love the book so much that they want a second one! Thanks again!

  25. Diana says:

Please write another! Pretty please?! I finished it in 2 days! Loved it!!! Please?!

Heh…thanks for your enthusiasm, Diana! I’m so glad you enjoyed the book. I promise I’ll make a decision soon. Thanks again!

  26. Annette Popa says:
